NASHVILLE, TN – Vietnam Veteran and former Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Bob Tuke announced today that he has won the endorsement of Wesley Clark in his bid for the U.S. Senate. Wesley Clark, a Four-Star General (ret.), was the Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO from 1997 to 2000 and a Democratic candidate for President in 2004. “Like countless men and women across this country, Bob Tuke has answered the call to serve his country. Whether it was as a Marine in Vietnam or as one of America’s most respected adoption lawyers, Bob Tuke has proven he is a man of honor and integrity. For these reasons I proudly endorse my friend Bob Tuke for the U.S. Senate,” said Clark. General Clark plans to campaign with Tuke in Tennessee and “do whatever I can” to help him win his campaign for the U.S. Senate. “I am honored to have General Clark on my team. His record of service speaks for itself and I look forward to working with him to change the direction our country,” said Tuke. During thirty-four years of service in the United States Army Wes Clark rose to the rank of four-star general as NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe. After his retirement in 2000, he became an investment banker, author, commentator, and businessman. In September 2003 he answered the call to stand as a Democratic candidate for President of the United States, where his campaign won the state of Oklahoma and launched him to national prominence before he returned to the private sector in February 2004. “Bob and I served in Vietnam. We’ve both waged war. That’s why I know he’ll have the needs of military families and the security of America on his mind everyday he goes to work in the U.S. Senate. He’s a proven leader who has the true grit to shake things up in Washington. He will rise above the political games that have consumed Capitol Hill for too long,” concluded Clark. |
